How to lose extra weight after pregnancy?

November 20, 2009

Women expects to gain weight during pregnancy.  This weight gain is due to the weight of baby, placenta, fluid, maternal fat, and nutrient stores for baby.  It helps to keep baby healthy and grow as pregnancy progress.  For healthy women, it is expected to gain between 25 to 37 lbs.  Excessive weight gain is not healthy for mother and baby.  It makes it harder to lose weight and to get back into shape after child birth.  It also caused more stretch marks, varicose veins, back aches, etc.

The smart way to lose weight and get back in shape is to ensure not to become overweight during pregnancy.  Eat healthy, avoid carbs and exercise according to your doctor’s advice.  After pregnancy, start exercise as soon as you feel strong enough to do it.

The following are resources I found to help me get back into shape quickly after the birth of my two sons.
